The goal of the PC is to purposefully and systematically improve the genetic level of the entire population of Holstein cattle, including its red color, in the Russian Federation in the right direction, in order to improve the performance, efficiency and competitiveness of individual herds (farms) and the breed as a whole.

To achieve this goal, the Association itself or in cooperation with other organizations coordinates and, if necessary, ensures the implementation of the approved goal of breeding and breeding programs, continuously evaluates their promotion and develops and offers updates and necessary changes to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

В связи с этим Ассоциация:

  • identifies and updates the breeding framework program and its methods, the main scope and methods for identifying, testing properties and marks, and evaluating breeding values throughout the breed;
  • directs, coordinates, or, together with authorized persons, ensures their implementation, assesses the course and development of the breed;
  • determines, together with authorized persons, the main parameters for the selection of breeding animals intended for the qualitative reproduction of livestock, performs the selection of breeding bulls and participates in the selection of breeding cows;
  • regularly, as a rule, once a year, publishes the results of the breeding program;
  • registers herds (farms), records breeding animals and their offspring in the PC and is responsible for maintaining the PC;
  • registers the origin and breeding value of breeding animals and issues certificates of their origin and values (hereinafter referred to as certificates only);
  • publishes information on the status, results of the PC and breeding value of selected categories of animals and herds (farms);
  • builds and maintains relations with foreign organizations with a similar mission.

In the framework of the Volga agro-industrial exhibition, 7 competitive shows of the best agricultural animals of the enterprises of the Samara region were held. Specialists (judges) from the Holstein associations of the Czech Republic, Slovakia took part.

The participation of representatives from countries - members of the Euroconfederation.

Boniters of the Russian Association certified in the Associations of the countries of the Euroconfederation are ready to assist in organizing and conducting competitive shows of Holstein cows in the regions of the Russian Federation.

Competitive show 2018:

Creation of exterior heifers profile and determination of average data for herd.

In order to harmonize the methods used in the Association with the developments approved by the world livestock community, namely the World Federation of Holstein-Friesian Cattle Producers (WHFF), it is proposed to single out the methodology for assessing Holstein animals as a separate method. The application of a unified system of ranges of indicators, taking into account many years of international experience on the way of accepting and harmonizing the main exterior features and criteria for their assessment, is unacceptable (see the European Confederation of the National Association of Holstein and Red-Holstered Holstein KPC Production Committee - EHRC of June 30, 2017 on the consequences of implementing the rules breeding of agricultural animals in the European Union 2016-1012" http://www.dairynews.ru/news/evrosoyuz-i-realizatsiya-pravil-razvedeniya-selkho.html

Linear Characteristics

Linear assessment of the exterior of Holstein cows

Linear estimation (visual part)

One of the active steps taken by WHFF (World Federation of Gostino-Friesian Cattle) was the publication on the website of the List of Standard Characteristics of Linear Assessment and their definition. Below are briefly these characteristics and their definitions. The following standard specifications are approved:

  1. growth
  2. chest width
  3. body depth
  4. angularity - Elasticity and “angularity” of the ribs (60/40). Not an exact linear characteristic. The best way to measure elasticity and costal arch is to estimate the cow from behind. “Angle” is the direction of the ribs (side view).
  5. the angle of the sacrum
  6. width of the sacrum
  7. rear legs rear view
  8. rear legs
  9. hoof angle
  10. gait (locomotion)
  11. front udder attachment
  12. front nipple position
  13. nipple length
  14. udder depth
  15. udder rear height
  16. central bundle
  17. rear nipple placement
  18. fatness

A proposal from the Association (expressed in the status of members of the Working Group under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation on improving the regulatory legal framework in the field of livestock breeding)

The main include:

  1. growth
  2. chest width
  3. torso depth
  4. angularity
  5. corner of the sacrum
  6. width of the sacrum
  7. rear legs rear view
  8. setting rear limbs
  9. hoof angle
  10. front udder attachment
  11. front nipple layout, rear view
  12. nipple length
  13. udder depth
  14. rear udder attachment height
  15. central bundle
  16. rear nipple placement
  17. fatness
  18. harmonious movement, gait.

    To additional include:
  1. Bone;
  2. The width of the rear udder lobes.

  • a short DNA passport of the animal (a set of DNA satellites that allows to determine the presence of this bull in the genes of its offspring (proof of origin) (in the DNA attachment)
  • full DNA passport of the animal (the maximum possible DNA decoding of this animal, which will later become the basis for the appearance of genomic evaluation) (in the future)
  • information on recessions and haplotypes ("genetic anomalies»)
  • Kappa casein
  • beta casein
  • beta lactoglobulin
  • % inbreeding

In the herds of members of the Association, animals (newborn calves) are identified by tags with the application of an alphanumeric number that best corresponds to the ICAR (International Committee for Registration of Farm Animals) philosophy in terms of animal registration and identification. The farm continues to cooperate with its own supplier of tags, using the system of alphanumeric number and application applied in the Association. At the request of a specific member, the Association undertakes to arrange the supply of the relevant tags.

Conducting seminars, conferences, practical courses for the exchange of experience with highly productive livestock.
